Competence and RPL

DIA has developed a series of programs for the Competences Assessment Process and Recognition of Prior Learning aimed at professional freelancers and employees. Candidates regardless of the diplomas/titles /certificates previously obtained or their level of qualification, applying for the competences assessment upon completion of the program are able to demonstrate through a certificate their knowledge and skills in the operational sector in which they wish to operate. Diving and Technician personnel applying for DIA certification must take and pass practical and theory assessment of their skills and knowledge against the DIA Competency Procedures and Standards for the requested certificate.

The CAP and RPL are supervised by DIA Executive, but managed by Audit personnel and government recognized organizations.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) recognizes the skills and knowledge, achieved with previous studies or work experience, that the candidate will use during the DIA Approved courses. Through the RPL candidates can enter to a course for which a particular requirement is needed.

To obtain the Recognition of Prior Learning, the applicant’s prior education or occupation is assessed as being equivalent to the DIA subject outlined in the Admissions and Recognition of Prior Learning Policy and Recognition of Prior Learning Procedures

The RPL is used to assess skills and knowledge in order to attend a DIA Approved Course or before obtaining a Competence Certificate

Competence Assessment Process

Police&Military CAP

A Competence Assessment Process (CAP) has also been designed and implemented for the Police&Military category. This system includes the recognition of current and past certificates and/or experiences, evaluation of documents and reference letters, etc. The candidate must attend 2 days of integration and introduction and apply for the exam. Upon completion of the process the candidate will receive a DIA certificate.

Since its inception, DIA has always played an important role in issuing certificates to firefighters, police and military forces. Military police, army, navy and air force personnel have adopted DIA courses to improve and enhance their knowledge and skills in aquatic and underwater environments.
