USV Operator

Training organizations play a key role in increasing skill levels in the use of Remote Controlled Vehicles (RCV). For this reason the DIA since 2008 has created the Unmanned Systems Improvement Skills (USIS) program. The program can be useful for improving the productivity and economic growth of companies.

USV Operator DIA Approved Course is used in various sectors from commercial to defense, for inspection and survey tasks, controls and surveillance. The course has been designed to improve learning and to increase its applications in various work environments, both in remote and autonomous mode.

This course develops an understanding on how to assess the use of the USV vehicle considering the risks of piloting and electrical and mechanical maintenance. It is suitable for anyone involved in work activities with USV vehicles (pilots/operators, technicians) both on board ships and rigs or onshore (Ground Control Station).

The DIA USV Approved Courses have been structured on the basis of Risks Associated with Machinery ISO 12100:2010 and offer delegates theoretical and practical learning to support classroom studies.

The exams are held online in live synchronous mode by the DIA CRD Unit, DIA Executive Commission, Trade Union and Employers’ Organization recognized by the Ministry of Economy authorized to issue Occupational Health and Safety certificates. The test includes the assessment of occupational health and safety topics in accordance with Legislative Decree. 81/08. Many of the questions involve procedures, rules and behaviors for safe working.

The exam questions are different for each candidate. Upon completion of the theory test, the candidate will sit individually to be assessed and to confirm the exam answers. The examiners and auditors will lead the candidate in a logical reasoning about the various topics to evaluate his effective preparation. In addition, the commission reserves the right to use other evaluation methods.
